Granny’s Dutch Boy

My dad and I found this quilt top in the loft of my Granny’s barn after she died in 1984. Dad said it had to have been there since the early 60’s, as that was the last time he knew her to quilt.

I was 14 at the time so I really don’t remember if it was hand pieced or machine.... I’m sure the appliqué is by hand. I think she had a fairly modern Singer in those days.

In 1988, we moved from NE Texas to Schulenburg, TX some 365 miles south. My mom met a lady who hand dyed the backing and hand quilted this.

I’m a “quilter” now but I feel like such a hack because there’s so much skill in this!
